`Sport teaches us character, it teaches us to play by the rules, it teaches us to know what it feels like to win and lose - it teaches us about life.` – and Education is all about preparing the younger generation for their lives ahead.
On 24th July 2024 (Wednesday), the 3rd day of the “Shiksha Saptah” was celebrated as `Sports Day` at Cambrian Public School, Kanke Road, Ranchi.
Sports integrated learning was focused upon during classroom sessions, to develop in students a habit to stay fit and disciplined. Sports integrated learning enhances various skills such as, collaboration, self-initiative, self-direction, self- discipline, teamwork, responsibility, citizenship, cultural integration, decision making etc.
To achieve the aims of organizing Sports Day, the following activities were successfully held with the help of the Sports coaches, students, community members and teachers.
Workshop (Students`)
• Raising awareness about the importance of Sports and fitness.
• Fostering a feeling of National Integration.
• Promotion of Indigenous games parallel to contemporary sports.
Inclusive Sports Competitions (Including CWSN)
• Creating a sense of inclusion & Sensitivity towards all the children from various backgrounds and of different calibers.
Indigenous Sports Competitions.
• Developing team spirit & discipline
• Learning the skills of decision making, responsibility and collaboration.
• Making the students physically, mentally, psychologically, socially, and emotionally fit.
Workshop/Awareness Session (Parents & Teachers)
• Raising awareness and learning to inculcate social and moral values through sports.
• Developing sense of togetherness and responsibility.
The celebrations and competitions focused on thousands of years old culture of Bharat in which countless games evolved and were played, many of which are now popularly played and enjoyed across the globe. A lot of indigenous games are played across regions under different names. The whole day was full of experiences created outside the classroom, helping the children to learn various skills and techniques valuable for their academic growth and holistic development. Principal, Dr Neeta Pandey emphasized on the importance of good health in ones life and encouraged the children to adopt a healthy lifestyle with sports as an integral part of it.
