Under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India the students of classes IV to VIII of Cambrian Public School, Kanke Road, Ranchi; were introduced with an indigenous game popularly played in Telangana - Palli Pattu, also known as Pithhu. It is one of the most ancient outdoor games of India.
The event was a month long event divided into various sections - Demonstrations Sessions, Games Competition, Writing & Painting Competitions. The students were briefed about the game, its history, culture and rules to play, by the Sports Coaches of the school followed by Practical demonstration and a healthy competition between various teams. Students were also encouraged to write about the benefits of playing Palli Pattu.
This opportunity was also suitable utilised to enhance the students knowledge about various Geographical features of Telangana by naming the various competing teams of the game, on famous rivers of Telangana - Godavari, Krishna, Tungbhadra & Bhima.
The students also made paintings on Palli Pattu. The fun-filled, game-based learning was welcomed by the students and they enthusiastically participated in the whole process to make it a success.
